Before doing anything, you will want to make sure you have all the necessary equipment, here is the list of tools you will likely need:
Correctly sized or adjustable spanner / Wrench.
Phillip's head screwdriver
Knife
Wiping cloth
Step 1- First things first, nice and simple turn off the water supply to the tap off. This is usually located under or near your kitchen sink . Check it is completely off by turning on the tap, there will probably be a little water left in the tap, but that should stop quickly.
Step 2 - Make sure you place them in the sink hole. This will avoid you losing anything while you are dismantling the tap. Special care must be taken in case of kitchen spray taps .
Step3 - Remove the cap at the end of the handle by using the knife to gently prise it off.
Step 4- Using the screwdriver remove the handle from the cartridge.
Step 5 - Remove and inspect the rubber seal for signs of significant damage or wear. If either is apparent then it would be best
Step 6 - Now to remove the cartridge. Using the wrench or a suitably sized spanner, turn the cartridge anti-clockwise.
Step 7 - Just like the washer, inspect the cartridge if it shows any signs of clogging or dirt build up then wipe it away using the cloth, if it is difficult to remove try using a wire brush. This build up can be enough to cause the drip. Once clean, check the cartridge for general wear and tear, if it appears cracked or in some way damaged you will need to replace the cartridge. Of course make sure the new cartridge is the same type as the one you originally removed.
Step 8 - Simple, the hard part is done now, just reassemble the tap, sit back, relax and enjoy a drip free kitchen tap.
