Anything made of artificial or real leather will look best with polishing. After removing any excess dirt with a brush, you should wipe them clean with a soft cloth at the end of every day. On a weekly basis, you will likely need to apply a good quality paste polish. You will be amazed at how well they maintain their appearance if you continue to do this on a regular basis.
