There is some scientific interest in the number of strokes that go to a drawing\'s brush, so I took the risk of recording the experiences of two individuals.
A few years ago, I was drawn by the famous German artist Graef, when I found it tedious to sit there and do nothing, and I amused myself by counting the number of strokes per minute he gave the portrait.
He was methodical and it was easy to figure out their average number, and as I know, I sat down with him and the product of these two numbers gave what I wanted to learn. It was 20,000.
A year and a half ago, I was once again drawn by the late lamenting artist Charles falls, and his method was completely different from Graff\'s.
He looked at me hard, mixed his colors while he was, and rushed in front of the portrait to make his dabs so fast that I had to estimate them instead of counting them.
As before, I was very surprised that the result was the same, 20,000.
Although this number is large, it has fewer needles than ordinary knitted socks.
In my mine, there are 100 rows for every 7 inch, and the widest part has 102 needles for each row.
Two such cylinders, 7 inch long each, need 20,000 pins, so the socks, though only about 7 inch long, are much more than this number.
