Dear Heloise: My nails peel off and break easily, but I don\'t want to get artificial nails, which may make my nail bed more brittle than it is now.

This is a classic Heloise tip in Philadelphia, leaving many beautiful, sturdy nails.
White (
Also known as colorless or faded)iodine.
Before running to a large chain of pharmacies, call around first, especially at local or independent pharmacies, and ask if there is any iodine in the pharmacist\'s store.
In some states it may be placed behind the counter or your pharmacist may order it for you if you request it.
If everything fails, check online using the search engine and enter \"white Iodine \".
To treat damaged nails, use a cotton swab or nail-polish brush (
Clean thoroughly with nailspolish remover)
Apply colorless iodine to your nails.
After doing this every day for a week, iodine is only used once a week.
Continue until you see your nails getting stronger and stronger.
Do not use hydrogen peroxide or any product containing hydrogen peroxide when using white iodine, otherwise your fingertips will turn yellow or orange.
Remember to use rubber gloves to protect your hands and nails while cleaning the room. --
