What you need: the painter\'s tape
2 \"painted black interior paint (
Benjamin Moore\'s black satin on the shell finish)
Step 1: Get up and prepare your wall. (
This includes filling any nail holes or wiping any dirty spots. )
Next, use the adhesive tape of the painter on the floor, ceiling and wall to remove the surrounding edge tape.
If you need to protect the furniture or the floor, Turner recommends using a plastic or waterproof cloth.
Step 2: Are you ready to start painting?
Keep your brush saturated only at dry paint levels (
Look at the photos).
There is an obvious color on the bristles, but the bristles are not dripping down.
This technology will be particularly important in the future.
Step 3: Create a relatively uniform and symmetrical grid on your wall.
The easiest way to do this is to start by dividing the wall into a series of horizontal rows.
Marking it with your tape or every so many feet with a pencil to keep your own check may help.
You want to take a look here, but you won\'t be happy with the curved lines.
Step 4: When you are ready to start your vertical line, it is easiest to work in parts.
Turner suggested dividing the whole wall in half, and then dividing that half in half (see photo).
Continue to divide and conquer in this way until you have an even number of squares and a beautiful grid system.
Step 5: Now look at the interesting part: each line that goes forward from this point is largely diagonal.
You will have a few horizontal lines to start with, about six.
On top of that, all the lines will be tilted from your grid.
You can create ideas here.
If you want your pattern to look random, think about it.
Move around the wall as you walk so you can change your pattern making.
Less is more, so every so many lines give your eyes a place to rest.
After: Please note that no line is actually openended.
Also, you might see some lines that are shorter and only go through some corners, while some lines are longer and extend through multiple squares. Why?
This makes things look as random as possible, even if they are not technically.
There is no correct or wrong answer or method for this project
Just have fun with it!
