Aluminum

We are here talking about a very special metal called, Aluminum. What all qualities make this metal so special? This is the question. Well, Aluminum is special like its name. Aluminum is lighter in weight yet very strong. This quality makes it stand apart in the crowd of so many metals. Aluminum is lighter, stronger and cheaper when compared to its counterpart, Copper. All these qualities make it a better choice and an obvious selection for air conditioning.

Aluminum is a perfect metal to be used in massive constructions because of its lighter weight. To be very precise, a lighter material is easier to work on and this makes aluminum an ideal metal for larger constructions. The overall weight of the unit is reduced and hence it becomes cheaper to maintain and support. One more property makes aluminum popular is that it is malleable. Because of this, it is widely used in making flexible pipes which are actually easy to repair and thus a unit made of aluminum has a longer life.

Welding of aluminum is easier compared to other metals as it doesn't break after turning hard because of access heat and doesn't turn too hot.

Why TIG?

When there is a huge demand of good quality surface finishes, TIG process is used.

Precautions to be taken while welding

It is highly recommended that during the welding process, some precautions and safety measures should be taken. The facade parts of the work piece should be cleaned by brush, preferably stainless steel wire brush. Precautions should be taken for the safety of eyes.

In Part 1 of the series you will learn the answers to a variety of common questions that you will need to know in order to start TIG welding aluminum including:

What Tungsten should I use?How do I prepare the tungsten?Do I weld on DC or AC?Why is Aluminum so hard to weld? How do you clean Aluminum?

In addition to answering these valuable questions, Mr. TIG offers weldingtips from under the hood that let you see up close and personal how to make a good weld and how to avoid making a bad weld.
