Create meticulous fabric art using tie dye pigment powder and templates.
A fun summer project!
For this item you need: colored powder in tie dye suit of various rainbow colors, white T-shirt, bag, or any 100% cotton engineering base · water · paint brush · gloves (
Optional, if you don\'t mess)
Vinyl stickers (
Negative part)
If you\'re making your own sticker, a paper cutter and a scrap wood or foam board, VinegarI, the rubber band, made my own template.
I used a cricket machine and an old cartridge called the Brooklyn iron.
This cartridge is intended to be used with an iron.
On vinyl products, so these designs are perfect for my T-shirt project.
I chose the design of the bike and reduced it to 3 by 5 inch.
Copyright has always been my concern.
I was surprised to find that I could make a small amount of craft projects with cricket bullets and sell my projects at craft fairs or flea markets.
When downloading the mode from the internet, if you intend to sell the completed project, please check the copyright rights.
For those who sell crafts, there are a lot of options for legal management.
There are many ways to get a template.
You can use another cutting machine such as silhouette.
You can download prefabricated files from websites such as creative markets.
You can also design it yourself.
I like to design myself, but it\'s hard to draw exactly with my 3 inch laptop mouse pad.
You can also purchase pre-made templates.
Make sure you get the complete pre-cut template, not just the punch template without the surrounding material.
You need \"negative\" for this project \".
Instead of using the actual design, you use the vinyl part left behind after removing the design.
The vinyl design itself is a good unused sticker that you can save to decorate your car, mirror or notebook.
Your vinyl paper will be discarded later, so use any ugly scrap that is waiting to be discarded, or strange scrap left by other projects.
Clear contact paper works well.
I also managed to use the sticky vinyl film for the shelves in the kitchen.
Choose the ugly color to sell.
Wash your fabric and dry it.
I am using a very old T-shirt because it is my first project to use this technique and I want to practice without endangering an expensive new shirt.
Put a piece of wood or foam board in a shirt or bag.
Use the rubber band attached to the tie dye paint to fix the fabric on the board.
Carefully stick the reverse sticker to the fabric.
When you are satisfied with the position, rub it and seal it firmly on the fabric.
I painted my shirt in an unusual way.
I started to throw out the instructions for the tie dye T-shirt kit.
I cut a small corner on each plastic bag with paint color.
I carefully sprinkled dry paint powder with vertical stripes on my template design.
Using a clean brush, I added a little water to the bristles and carefully moved the brush to the paint powder.
I start on the left (
If you are left hand, start on the right)
, And use vertical strokes.
Use as little water as possible.
If the paint is not glued to the fabric, dip the brush into more water.
After a little experiment, I realized that the brush needs to be thoroughly cleaned before starting a new color.
For the next color, start with a clean damp brush on the right side of the stripe, color the previous color, and finally mix the new and previous colors.
Wash your brush with as little water as possible and then proceed to the next color.
After the first attempt, I now realize that my protective fabric area needs to be larger as some of my paint has fallen off the vinyl sticker onto the fabric on the edge of the sticker.
I know mistakes can happen, which is why my first attempt was to wear an old T-shirt instead of an expensive new one.
I chose to use powder paint to give me more control over the results and to enhance the color.
Water Paint will bleed more under the template, making the design more blurry.
I left the sticker and moved the whole project outdoors.
I put it in the sun for about an hour (
Depending on the weather).
Because the summer temperature here is usually over 100 degrees, it won\'t take a long time!
I was disappointed by the result.
I thought the bike design would be more concise.
Note that the red paint is much more blurry than the blue one.
Red paint is more water than blue paint.
I poured vinegar on the shirt to determine the color, and some pink dye blurred the shirt.
I washed the shirt under cold water with an outdoor faucet.
The tap is rarely used and the red mud is poured on my project adding yellow och color stains.
I washed my shirt again and spread it on the grass again and it was frustrating!
I wanted to give up the project until I remembered it was tie dye!
The Blur and mixing of colors is the charm of tie-dye.
Why can\'t the main design be a little vague, but still pretty?
I took a break, had a summer drink, and came back and looked over.
The bike did tie up the Aurora, but the white background was ugly. Maybe. . .
I just didn\'t finish the project.
The solution is more paint, more colors!
I mixed a few bottles of liquid dye with a four ounce plastic bottle in the tie dye kit.
Using vertical strokes that roughly match the color of the bike rainbow, I added more dyes to my shirt.
I decided to finish the shirt with a few cold water rinses using abandoned packing instructions.
The finished shirt looks great and I\'m already planning my next project!
